Recommended color coding
General Environmental Controls |
| While the OSHA standards
do not specifically mandate colors to be used on accident prevention
tags, the following color scheme is recommended by OSHA for meeting
the requirements of this section: |

DANGER
|
Red,
or predominantly red, with lettering or symbols in a contrasting color.
Indicates a hazardous situation which has high probability of death
or severe injury. Should not be used for property damage unless personal
injury risk is present. |

CAUTION
|
Yellow, or predominantly
yellow, with lettering or symbols in a contrasting color. Indicates
a hazardous situation which may cause minor or moderate injury. |

|
WARNING
|
Orange, or predominantly orange, with lettering or symbols in a
contrasting color. Indicates a hazardous situation which has some
probability of death or serious injury.

BIOLOGICAL HAZARD
|
Fluorescent orange or orange-red, or predominantly
so, with lettering or symbols in a contrasting color. |
Additional colors (not specified by OSHA) but accepted
industry wide: |

NOTICE
|
Indicates a statement
of company policy relating to the safety of personnel or protection
of property. NOTICE must not be associated directly with a hazard
or used in place of CAUTION, WARNING, or DANGER. |

GENERAL SAFETY
|
Indicates instructions of a general nature relative to safe work practices, proper safety procedures, and safety equipment location.
